Lending firearms

Persons with an individual firearms permit can lend or hand over firearms listed on the firearms permit to another person for up to four weeks. The laws and regulations are in Norwegian language only.

If it is a pistol or revolver that is being loaned, the firearm can only be lent or handed over to a person that has a valid firearms permit for a corresponding type of firearm. The borrower must meet the minimum age requirement specified in the Norwegian Firearms Act. Firearms cannot be lent to anyone who has had their firearms confiscated or has been banned from owning or possessing firearms, or who otherwise might be considered unfit to possess firearms.

The person lending or entrusting the firearm to someone else must provide the recipient with a dated and signed attestation (declaration for lending out a firearm). The declaration serves as a firearms permit for the borrower and must be kept with the firearm. The declaration for lending out a firearm can be found to the right. Firearms cannot be lent to anyone who has had their firearms confiscated or has been banned from owning or possessing firearms, or who otherwise might be considered unfit to possess firearms.
