Maintains evacuation in Nybyen
The Governor has decided to maintain the evacuation and ban on residence and traffic in Nybyen. There is still a danger that the cornices at the top of Gruvefjellet may loosen and fall down.

The decision to extend the evacuation and ban on residence and traffic was made after a meeting with Skred AS, NVE and Longyearbyen local council today.
The recidence and traffic ban also means that it is forbidden to drive snowscooters through the area. It is not permitted to cross the barriers.
A new assessment will be made next Thursday as to whether the evacuation and the ban on traffic and residence will be extended further.
