Large avalanche near Barentsburg
There has been a large avalanche in the mountainside near Barentsburg. No one was taken by the avalanche.

The Governor was notified of the avalanche around 14.30 hrs. It went on the mountainside by the dog farm and over the snowscooter trail on the north side of the town.
- The avalanche was observed by people on the spot, police chief inspector Anders Haugerud informs.
- There is a significant risk of avalanches out in the terrain now, and we ask everyone who is out in the terrain to take their precautions and not travel in avalanche-prone areas, he says.
