The Governor lifts the evacuation and the ban on entering the area relating to the houses in Vei 228. There will still be a permanent ban on entering the area relating to the houses in Vei 222 and 226. - We have had a meeting with The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) this morning. The decision of lifting the evacuation and ban on entry in Vei 228 is based on the weather forecast and avalanche assessments from. NVE, Governor Kjerstin Askholt says.

This applies to the following houses:
Vei 228-2, 228-4 A, B, C, D, 228-7, 228-9, 228-11, 228-13 A, B, C, D, E.

- The houses in Vei 222 and 226 are in the area where there will be a permanent ban on entry until the snow is gone in the spring, Kjerstin Askholt says.

In cooperation with NVE the Governor will monitor the weather situation the next days and if needed make new assessments if the weather affects the risk of avalanches in Longyearbyen.

The risk of avalanches is still considerable on Nordenskiøldland, and the Governor urges people to be careful and to take their precautions if entering the terrain.
